1b.They are called the major components because they help in operation with the computer in order to satisfy the user such as the processor,memory and peripheral devices.

2a The cathode ray tube(CRT) is a vacuum tube that is connected to electron guns and can be connected to an oscilloscope and is used in computer monitors.
2b it is so because if it is not connected to the CRT then it will not be able to produce visual images and the screens will be blank.
